Abstract
As youth unemployment has increased, social interest in young people has grown, but research on the disparities in the quality of life among young people is rare. This study investigated the multiple disparities of the quality of life among young adults in South Korea. We examined the quality of life in economic status, education and labor, health, social relations, citizen participation and happiness among those aged 19 to 29 using ¡°2017 Survey on Social and Economic Status of Youth¡±. The 18.1% of young people experienced the low economic quality of life and 24.4% have experienced exclusion from work or education. The 30.3% of the youth responded that mental health was bad and young people who did not have a close friend or go out of the house were 5.5%. 14.0% of young adults experienced multiple disparities. The risk to experience the multiple disparities in quality of life was determined by family background, age, and region. Further research is needed to prepare policy measures to cope with the internal heterogeneity and social inequalities of young people.
